The IJP George Weidenfeld Bursary Phd Anthropology

University of Central Lancashire International PhD Anthropology Scholarship


The PhD Anthropology scholarships are tenable up to 3 years for PhD (via route MPhil) [subject to satisfactory progress] and open to international applicants only. UK / EU applicants are not eligible to register. Scholarships will provide £ 15,000 towards the cost of international tuition for 3 years.
This project will focus on the impact of closed landfills on the environment. The inclusion of heavy metals and organic continuously into the waste stream has resulted in a mixture of toxic buried. New European legislation has tried to overcome this problem by restricting the use of certain substances. However, this does not take into account the historical legacy. In the electronics industry have known for many compounds used health implications because they are not currently targeted by the European Union. This
PhD Anthropology again added to the pollution problem in the future. This study will conduct studies on these issues and recommend improvements to off-set the environmental impact. This study will investigate the leachate from the landfill was chosen and consider the impact on water catchment areas with consideration to ground water and surface water. This project will use a model approach (case study of a selected landfill in water catchment areas) in studying the impact in connection with certain parameters. Early Stage Researcher PhD anthropology Transport and Signalling mechanism


This PhD anthropology project will discuss the impact of lipid composition on membrane mechanics and lateral organization, and consequences in the form of trans-membrane and membrane trafficking. Changes due to membrane-bound proteins and generally occur in the membranes that mimic biological structures will also be investigated realistic effects, partly in collaboration with other ITN partners.

Qualification

PhD anthropology Candidates with experience in soft matter physics, optical trap, automation instruments and / or biological physics are welcome. A basic knowledge of cell biology is also desirable. In addition to proven experimental skills candidates must have a strong interest in the theoretical background of the experiment. Characterization tools such as image / video analysis will be used and developed. Training will study towards a PhD and therefore applicants must also obtain admission as graduate students. According to EU regulations, a candidate can be any nationality. They must have less than 4 years of research experience and should not be in England for more than 12 months during the last 3 years.
